Set up your DataBridge Hub

Find the right location

  1. Choose a spot near your meter

Place the DataBridge Hub within 30 feet of your smart meter. Avoid placing it near routers or large metal objects such as refrigerators.

  2. Have your Wi-Fi password ready

You'll need this password to connect the DataBridge Hub to your network.

Power the device

  1. Connect the power adapter

Plug the included power adapter into the DataBridge Hub, then plug the other end into a wall outlet.

  2. Wait for the green light

The green LED indicates the device is ready. The LED can take up to 30 seconds to turn solid green.

Start the setup in the app

  1. Open the EnergyGrid App

Sign in if you haven't already done so.

  2. Go to Toolkit

Tap the Toolkit icon in the navigation bar.

  3. Select DataBridge Hub

Choose the DataBridge Hub from the device options.

  4. Tap Continue

The button activates when the app detects the device. Tap Continue to proceed.

  5. Tap Begin Setup

Follow the on-screen instructions to prepare for pairing.

Enable Bluetooth

  1. Turn on Bluetooth

Enable Bluetooth on your phone or tablet from the device settings or Control Center.

  2. Tap Begin DataBridge Setup

The app uses Bluetooth to communicate with the DataBridge Hub during pairing.

Pair the device

  1. Place your phone next to the DataBridge Hub

Hold your phone directly against the DataBridge Hub as shown in the app.

  2. Wait for the LED to turn blue

The blue LED indicates that pairing is in progress.

  3. Confirm the connection

A Success message appears when pairing completes. Tap Next to continue.

tip

If pairing fails, verify that Bluetooth is enabled and that no other Bluetooth devices are near the DataBridge Hub. Remove your phone case and try again.

Connect to Wi-Fi

  1. Wait for the network scan

The app scans for available Wi-Fi networks.

  2. Select your network

Choose your home Wi-Fi network from the list. Select the 2.4 GHz network for best results.

  3. Enter your password

Type your Wi-Fi password and tap Enter.

  4. Wait for the connection

The app displays a confirmation when the DataBridge Hub connects to Wi-Fi.

note

Select Use Wired Ethernet Setup if you prefer a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi. Select Enter Network Details Manually if your Wi-Fi network does not appear in the scanned list.

Bind to your smart meter

  1. Request the bind

After the Wi-Fi connection succeeds, the app automatically submits a bind request to your smart meter.

  2. Wait for the process to complete

Binding typically completes within 15 minutes, but can take up to 48 hours depending on network conditions. You do not need to keep the app open or stay near the DataBridge Hub during this time. Keep the device powered and within 30 feet of the smart meter throughout the process.

  3. Check the status

The app displays Bind Request Complete when the connection succeeds. Tap Explore the App to start using your DataBridge Hub.

note

If the app still shows the DataBridge Hub searching for the smart meter after 48 hours, contact support through the app.
